{Oscars 2011}

abc.com
Its a rainy, grey day, and I am so excited that the Oscar's are on tonight. I am going to watch the whole shebang, from the red carpet to the after party show. They are trying to reach out to a younger audience this year by having Anne Hathaway and James Franco host and I think it will be great. I love both of them separately so together I'm sure will be awesome. The promos have been hysterical this year, showing them getting ready to host by training "Rocky" style. I will be planted on my couch absorbing all of the Hollywood glamour. How awesome would it be to live in the LA area and know that this is happening right around the corner?! Can't wait to see all of the fashion, stars, & speeches.

Kelly's 21st Birthday

This past weekend was my little sister's 21st Birthday. I feel so incredibly old. Our initial plans were to celebrate it in Las Vegas. That did not work out. So, we had to go with plan B. We head out to the Hard Rock Hotel & Casino in Tulsa (thanks mom & dad), which is about an hour away. Its no Vegas, but it was a blast. It was so nice to have everything all in one place. Gambling, drinking, restaurants, & a club. We did a little of everything. Didn't win much, I ended up breaking even at around 2am which I'm ok with. On a side note, Kelly found a casino chip in her wallet the next day, so we headed over to the casino on our way out of town for that one last chance. Sat next to a woman who had just won $1500 on a penny machine, figured she was good luck, ended up wining almost $300 on the penny machine right next to her! Who would've thought. It was a great way to end the trip.

{Be my Valentine}

Well, I don't have a Valentine exactly this year, but, I saw this quote and loved it! I think Valentine's Day is a little dramatic and forced but it is a sweet day to think about those you love. How awful is it that it fell on a Monday this year? Anyway, just another day to me this year, maybe next year I will be the one with the nauseating bouquet of flowers at my desk?!
Happy Valentine's Day!

{The Roomate}

I went to see The Roommate this weekend and it was exactly what I expected. A cheesy horror film with the same plot of Single White Female. It was a little Lifetime for me, but it was worth making fun of. It starred Minka Kelly from Friday Night Lights and Leighton Meester from Gossip Girl ( which I love love!). I can't believe how much they look alike. Its crazy. I have to say I have had a few SWF's in my life so far. I won't name names, but girls can be super creepy & possessive, maybe not to the point of this movie, but scary nonetheless. {Blair Waldorf goes a bit psycho}

{All in all bad horror movie, but great styling and a decent soundtrack}

Raspberry Pound Cake

No work, no driving, no leaving my house! We have been couped up in the house for the past few days and I think we are all getting a little cabin fever. I decided to try out a new recipe from my newest Giada cookbook that I got for Christmas. It looked yummy and other than raspberries being out of season and a little pricey, it was fairly easy to make.

{Penny watching the snow fall}

{The picture in the cookbook}

for the pound cake:
1 & 1/2 sticks unsalted butter, room temp
1 & 1/2 C all purpose flour
1 tsp baking pwd
2 tsp grated orange zest ( I used a meyer lemon)
1/2 tsp grounded cinnamon
1/2 tsp fine sea salt
1 & 1/2 C fresh raspberries, lightly mashed
1 & 1/3 C sugar
4 lg eggs
1 tsp good vanilla

for the cream:
1/2 tsp vanilla
1 C heavy whipping cream
3 tbsp pwd sugar
Mix all ing together in a stand mixer until stiff peaks form.

Preheat oven to 350 and butter & flour a 9x5x3 loaf pan
combine flour, baking pwd, cinnamon, and salt

add lemon zest

Place 3 tablespoons of the flour mix into the raspberries, toss until coated.

In a stand mixer, beat butter & sugar until light and fluffy. With mixer running, add eggs 1 at a time. Add vanilla and then the dry ingredient mixer, small amounts at a time.
Gently fold in raspberry mixture

just a side note: this batter is insane, I think I got a little crazy and ate too much.

Pour mixture into prepared pan and bake for about an hour. Let cool before you remove and serve with whipped cream.

The final product: Yum!!

{Celebrity Crush: Jeff Bridges}

This is my second post on celebrity crushes that I have. Like I warned previously, they are not your average crushes. Case in point: Jeff Bridges. Love him. He is so ruggedly handsome. I actually dig him more with a beard a la' Crazy Heart more than anything. There is just something about him. I can even see it in "The Dude". I recently saw True Grit with my family (its rare to get my dad in the theater unless its something grand) and it was incredible. I read the book, but never saw the original with John Wayne. But, I can tell you that Jeff Bridges is amazing!! I was really disappointed when this entire move got snubbed at the Golden Globes, but found out that he is nominated for an Oscar!! He won last year for Crazy Heart and his speech was so great. He really seems to be in love with his wife who he has been married to forever and one of his daughters is actually his assistant. I think that is part of what makes him so attractive.{True Grit, if you haven't seen it, go see it!!}

{this just cracked me up}

{around the time of The Fabulous Baker Boys, so handsome!!}
